died, her publicist said on Thursday.
The five-time Grammy winner was
suffering from breast cancer.
Born LaDonna Adrian Gaines, she gained prominence in the 1970s, with 3 consecutive double albums reaching number
one on the US charts.
"Early this morning, surrounded by family, we lost Donna Summer Sudano, a woman of many gifts, the greatest being her faith. While we grieve her passing, we are at peace celebrating her extraordinary life and her continued legacy," her family said in a statement.
